The 26ft quartzite relic was found buried beneath Matariyyah, Cairo, Egypt, during construction work. Where Heliopolis was before. These relics in particular have been researched to have been damaged and buried during the Greco-Roman time i.e. about 8th to 6th century BCE. Many of the city’s treasures and building materials were plundered, lost or recycled (reused as scrap material, looted etc).
