Also Menara's sister Elektra is affectionately called "chocolate angel". I think there is a bit of white supremacy seeping into this answer. They would be considered black for sure.

If Menara is descended from Africans then I doubt she would look European but more like mixed race. By the way Billy said she was "dark" not "tan" there is a BIG difference.
